FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long does a portrait/commission take?
A great question but challenging to say! Every portrait is different, some take longer than others depending on the composition, size, chosen medium and photograph provided. Oil paintings are more time consuming as additional drying time is needed.
If you have a deadline or need a commission for a certain date please get in touch sooner rather than later to allow plenty time to accommodate your request. I would recommend booking at least 1 month in advance to avoid disappointment.  I like to ensure your commission arrives approx 1 week before a deadline. A 25% deposit is needed to secure your booking.

Do you work from photographs?
Yes! A successful commission always begins with a high quality photograph supplied by the customer. The photograph needs to be a single, high quality photograph of the angle and position you would like your portrait to be created from.  It also needs to capture the character, true depiction of the colourings of your portrait and have been taken in good natural lighting.
* Multiple portraits - Please do not worry about getting your portraits in the same photograph! Single, good quality close up photo's are always best. I will then use my creative license to compose your desired piece.

Not sure what medium to choose?
Please don't worry! I am more than happy to recommend what I think will compliment your portrait/commisioned piece.  Check out my portfolio for examples. This may help you narrow down your choice!

Do you supply mounts and frames?
Yes I do depending on the chosen media and commission request.
Currently all my pencil and pastel drawings are posted mounted ready to gift. All mount sizes (Unless commission is a bespoke size) fit a standard shop bought frame.
Canvas's are sent unframed however should you wish to enquire about framing I am more than happy to discuss this option with you.

I need my portrait quickly, what is your turnaround?
I always do my upmost to accommodate short deadlines and will always try to squeeze you in where I can! It is always worth dropping me an email or getting in touch with me via social media to see what I can do.
